Professor Vicente Gonzalez is the inaugural Hal Kvisle Professor in Engineering Project Management in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada, and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Digital Lean Construction.

Before joining Alberta, he was a faculty member at the University of Auckland for more than 12 years, where he founded and led the Smart Digital Lab. His research spans digital lean construction, Construction 4.0, AI, BIM, digital twins, simulation, extended reality, robotics and human-centred construction systems. He has secured substantial research and teaching funding, published extensively in leading journals and conferences, and held major editorial and professional service roles, including Deputy Editor of Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management and editorial board member of Advanced Engineering Informatics. At Alberta, he leads the Infrastructure Human Tech Lab and has founded SenseHuman.AI, developing AI-enabled smart safety technologies for construction.

During their IAS Fellowship, Professor González will be collaborating with Professor Yang Zou from the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering.
