ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability
Formerly Chief Resilience Officer and Metropolitan Director of Resilience in Quito, David currently leads the Resilient Development Pathway at ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability World Secretariat. His work focuses on the intersection of socioeconomic and spatial exclusion and the impacts of extreme natural events, including those related to climate change.
Through this work, he seeks to help ensure equitable access to essential services such as water, food, energy, transportation, and employment opportunities, recognizing that the creation of livelihoods and the improvement of living conditions are fundamental to resilient development.
David is also a PhD candidate at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), where his research explores whether and how cities can be governed and transformed to navigate irreducible uncertainty while simultaneously dismantling the systemic inequities that drive vulnerability.
During their IAS Fellowship, David will be collaborating with Professor Trivik Verma from the Department of Geography and Environment.
